Beth Hart

Pics Beth Hart Feet and LegsBeth Hart, a Los Angeles native, is a blues-styled singer and former street performer. In 1995 she debuted in the music industry with Immortal. Her outspoken style and her innate musicianship attracted the attention of many in addition to her emotion-filled live performances and voice that was likened to Janis Joplin. Chuck Taylor, Billboard's October 2, 1999 issue, stated that Hart is "the epitome of natural woman" and was "bawdy and funny, and chatty with her use of spiced languages, and free-wheeling." But that's a lot of white bread when contrasted with her onstage presence that is where the tall, graceful singer/songwriter walks around and blasts out songs with the vim that is Mick Jagger .... At times, she's taken her seat on the piano or in the center of the stage, sitting without a hint of pretense, with her legs crossed over the back of a chair, her voice so delicate and pained that you're left wondering if she's going to cry--or perhaps you'll. Hart was a teenager who participated in amateur competitions and had similar reactions. But she still had doubts about the music industry when she started her professional career. Hart ended up losing her band after traveling around the world proved to be detrimental. Hart was forced to stay out of the public eye for nearly four years. Hart spent this time looking into her soul, writing music as well as addressing personal issues. After that, determined to give her professional career a chance to shine, she returned in 1999 with the critically acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper, an album that allowed Hart to develop her songwriting skills with honest, vulnerable songs about facing life's issues.
